Long day

Got up for working from home. My therapist called, and we had our session by phone. I found a bunch of TED talks and other videos and recorded webinars that people had recommended, so I spent most of the day watching those. Called the Kid during lunch, she's going to visit a friend this weekend in PA.

After work I ordered dinner from Seamless and then Skyped the FWiB. Dinner arrived after we'd been talking for awhile so we left it at that and then I ate dinner.

After dinner I quickly did my usual internet reading, and then it was time for my Al-anoon meeting by Zoom. It went very well, though it was small.

After that I called Middle Brother, who was glad to hear from me. Then I went to the bedroom, turned on the AC, and played solitaire until Oldest Brother called. We talked while I fed the pets.

After he got off, I bit the bullet and did what I'd been dreading... I changed the ink in the printer. It was surprisingly easy. Until I went to print something, the picture of the Kid with Oldest brother's long-gone cat Pandora that I wanted to give him.

It would not print, and I kept getting the message on the computer that the printer door was open. There was nothing open that shouldn't have been. I kept searching the manual, couldn't find anything helpful. I was literally pulling my hair. I tried turning the printer off and on, opening and shutting everything that opens and shuts, nothing worked.

Then it hit me. I was only getting the error message on the computer, not the printer screen. The printer seemed to be acting as though everything was fine. What if the problem was the computer? So I restarted the computer.

And sure enough, this time the picture printed with no problem. No door open message, even though nothing was different than it had been. Whatever. Now I know.

So after this I am going to go to bed and read the Lord of the Rings some more. I'm up to Tom Bombadil's House.

I'm starting to relax after my frustration with the printer. Seriously, I was nearly in tears. But damn it, I beat it!

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. Got the printer working.

3. My meetings and the people there.

4. The Kid has good friends.

5. My brothers are well.

6. Three day weekend!
