After the delivery came I unpacked it and then went back to bed for an hour and a half. Then I got up again, and caught up on stuff on-line, and then Skyped the FWiB. We talked for an hour, and then it was almost time for the launch.
For those who don't know it was the launch of the Space X manned flight to the ISS. The first manned flight from American soil for 11 years. So a pretty big thing. It was supposed to be Wednesday but they scrubbed cause of the weather. But today it went like a charm. Beautiful!
After the launch I stayed listening to the broadcast for awhile, then went and read for a bit. Then the FWiB wanted to Skype again for a brief while to make an explanation of something that was easier said than typed in e-mail, so I came out and we did that. Afterward I stayed on-line and puttered, and watched more of the launch broadcast. They did a bit from the interior of the Dragon capsule. That was interesting.
Then I finally ended up ordering my dinner by Seamless. The Greek place. I got tarmasalata to go with my gyro, and was impressed by the amount they gave me.
After I ate it was almost time for the Thurber reading. There were technical difficulties, he had to stop and start over, so it ran long, but was fun never-the-less.
After that I went and read again until it was time to call Oldest Brother. I called him after the launch, too, to make sure he had gotten to see it, and to cheer.
Then I fed the cat and turtle, and called the Kid. We talked about stuff she's been buying. And she wants to go join the protests tomorrow, which worries me, but she says she'll be careful. I hope and pray so. I admire her courage and conviction.
