After that I baked the clay paw print that I got with Sybil's ashes. The good news, it did not crack or break. The bad news, if did discolor. But it's not a bad color, it just looks toasty instead of white clay. I let it cool for an hour before I removed it from the baking pan and it was fine.
Then I started trying to get a picture for the photo space on the box of ashes itself. I had one that was pretty good, so I tried making it smaller, first by cropping, then resizing.
While I was working on it, the Kid called, finally. All is well. We talked for awhile and she sent me pictures of things she's bought.
The Shipt order came while we were talking, so I put that away while we talked. Then we finished up and I went back to my photo-fiddling. Got it down to just the right size, and put it in the slot in the box, and that's done. Again, a type of closure.
After that I puttered around on-line til 7:30 when I had my glass of wine. Now I'm drinking the bottle of port that Oldest Brother brought one Christmas, it was opened but still OK. I was still drinking it when the Thurber reading started. He's put the Years With Ross book aside, thank goodness, and did two readings from My Life And Welcome To It, which were a lot more fun.
Then I made dinner and had the last of my gelato for dessert. And then I went and read til it was time to call Oldest Brother.
Now I'm charging my Nook. Speaking of things being out of power, the light bulb in my bedside lamp that wasn't dead after all... has died for real now. Annoying. Tomorrow or the next day I will go in search of a bulb the right size.
And that was the day.
