Slept quite late, then got up, breakfasted and showered. I called mashfanficchick and asked if she wanted to come with me, but she didn't. Which is probably a good thing, since I didn't really have time or money after the Nook purchase to be just window shopping around.
Anyway, I took the bus to the Flushing subway station where I discovered that there is still, on weekends, no train service between Main Street and 111th Street, and once again had to use the shuttle bus. But I got a seat, and it wasn't hung up in traffic this time so no big deal. Took the 7 to Grand Central and the 6 from there to Union Square.
Found my way to Barnes and Noble, and made the purchase of a Nook Glowlight Plus. Got a very cute case for it, which was ohmygod so expensive, but you really need to have a case. It has a cute drawing of a cat with glasses. And I got the extended two year warranty. All this came to $260-something even including the membership discount (they didn't use to apply that to Nook purchases but now they do) so I will have to be a bit frugal for the next couple of weeks.
Anyway, having done that, I looked around Barnes and Noble a little, but didn't get anything else. Part of me wanted to stick around Union Square, but more of me wanted to get home and play with the Nook, and not spend any more money.
So I came home via the 6 to the 7 and the shuttle bus to Flushing. I did get ome berry lovers bubble tea in Flushing, which is delicious. Then I came home and opened the Nook package.
It was remarkably easy to set up, even easier than than my first Nook. And all my library sync'ed easily to it, so i have all my books.
I Skyped the FWiB very briefly, for it was almost 8 by then, and then had dinner, and then went to read on the Nook. It is bigger than the first one, which is nice, it's not big enough to be a problem holding, but enough bigger to make a difference in the amount the page can hold. I texted the Kid a bit, too.
Anyway, pretty exciting day.
1. The FWiB.
2. The first Nook the Kid gave me.
3. The new Nook.
4. Good books.
5. sleeping late through the time change.
6. Sweet bubble tea.
