I read online waiting to hear from the FWiB, but there was something wrong with our e-mail connection, and I didn't get any of his messages til after 12. Then they all came in at once in reverse order. Weird. We couldn't Skype at that point anyway because his wife was visiting.
Spoke to Dori and to the Kid on the phone, neither one could come today. Pity. It would have been nice.
So at 2 I left and forgot to unplug the Christmas tree, and the star lights, so they were on the whole time I was gone. Merry Christmas!
Got breakfast from the Dunkin' Donuts in Flushing, because my milk was iffy.
Skyped the FWiB on the train, from the time we left Flushing to when we went underground at Hunters Point. Nice talk but a bad connection.
Got to Union Square and went to the Strand first. Bought books for mashfanficchick, Oldest Brother, and the Kid. Then went to Barnes and Noble and went to the cafe for refreshments, and then went to the calendars and got one for Middle Brother and one for mashfanficchick's mother.
By then mashfanficchick had gotten into Union Square so we met up and started doing the Holiday Market. We stopped for lamb stew from the Persian food place, and poutine from the duck fat place. Also a free sample of vegan hazelnut hot chocolate. And I bought hot glauswen (I'm not sure how to spell that) to drink (non-alcoholic) too. The only thing I bought from the market was a Christmas ornament, a handmade red cloth elephant.
Then it was 7 and the Market closed so we traveled back together as most of the way til I had to break off and take the 7 train to Flushing where I went to Duane Read and got an Entenmann's fudge cake for the Holiday lunch at work tomorrow.
So aside from not getting to see Dori or the kid, it was a successful day.
1. The FWiB.
3. Christmas shopping nearly done I think.
4. Beautiful weather.
5. The Strand.
6. Got the last Entenmann's fudge cake they had.
